Top Baseball Hitting Drills

Top Baseball Hitting Drills is a compilation of drills that will help youth baseball players improve in five areas

1. Balance

2. Timing

3. Swing Path

4. Power

5. Confidence

Balance

Achieving and maintaining balance is the cornerstone to building a great swing.

Players that will benefit from this video are players that

1. Lunge at the ball

2. Chase pitches out of the strike zone

3. Players that pop the ball up on a consistent basis

Timing

Timing is another core concept that hitters must achieve to be successful.

Several things must be done "on time" before the swing...

1. Load

2. Stride foot must be down

3. Pitch recognition

Check out this drill to accomplish all 3!

Swing Path

The ideal bat path is one which is "short to the ball" and "long through the ball".

A "short swing" or a "compact swing" allows hitters to get to the ball in time. If a player has a "long swing" to the ball then he will often times be late or he will miss-hit the ball.

However, when players over emphasize the "short swing" so much that they cut their follow through off it becomes detrimental to their success. "Get through the ball" or "drive the ball" are common phrases heard around batting cages. In order to get through the ball and drive the ball the player must extend his arms through contact.

Check out this top baseball drill to improve your swing path.

Power

In this post steroid era of baseball teams have gone back to a "small ball" version of the game. However, players will always look for ways to increase power in their swing.

Check out this top baseball hitting drill to increase power!

Confidence

Success builds confidence and confidence leads to more success. the ONLY way a player will be successful for a prolonged period of time is if he is confident.

Practice builds confidence which leads to success.

I firmly believe in the benefits of the SwingAway training system.

Over the past several years I have bought 6 machines for my training center and my 3 kids (1 son, 2 daughters) have routinely hit off the one set up in my basement.

This video consists of top baseball hitting drills using the SwingAway hitting system.
