Baseball hitting instructions made easy...Head
Baseball hitting instructions continued...
Head Keeping the head level and still through contact makes it much easier to see the ball clearly as the hitter swings the bat. Even though this is the most important aspect of hitting I place it last because if there is not a good foundation (hips) and there is not good coordination (hands) then the head will most likely already be turned out away from the ball. Video analysis is a good way to show a hitter what his head is doing during the swing. Sometimes hitters can't feel what their head is doing and they don't believe there coach and especially not their dad when they are told that they are pulling their head out. So video evidence is the best recourse in this case. ESPN also makes it difficult for coaches to get players to watch the ball through contact. The reason for this is on the high lights the Big Leaguers watch their home runs sail over the fence and it looks cool to do that. But again when you break a swing down you will see that Big Leaguers do keep their head down at and through contact.
This machine actually pitches small plastic balls to help with the hand eye coordination for hitters.I have not used this machine in my training facility but for under $200 it looks pretty cool.
