Baseball hitting instructions...Hands

Baseball hitting instructions continued...

Hands

The bat path is down into the hitting zone, level through contact and then up during the follow through phase.

Adjusting these three parts is where a good coach really ads value to his hitters.

You can not always tell what is going on with a swing by the trajectory of the ball. Players can hit ground balls by having too much upper cut early in their swing. This happens because top spin causes the ball to go down causing a weak ground ball.

The opposite is also true with too much of a down swing which causes back spin on the ball and it goes up into the air.

It is important to know what is going on with the swing rather than only relying on what the ball does.
